Star Trek 11 Movie Petition

You are here because you share a distaste for Paramount's Star Trek 11 movie plans. Please sign this petition and express how you feel. You may also want to check out this petition's FAQ.

To Paramount:

We believe that your current plan to make a prequel movie detailing James Kirk and Spocks' days at the academy lacks creativity. We further declare that it is an insult to these characters to have them played by different actors. William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy
were Kirk and Spock: they cannot simply be replaced.

We would like to see another Star Trek movie, but we think the premise should be different. We propose a much-anticipated crossover movie involving the casts of TNG, DS9, and possibly Voyager.

Despite being the producer for TNG and Voyager, Rick Berman ought not be given any creative control over this crossover project. We additionally ask that he be barred from going near the set.

The undersigned,

I think this is an excellent idea. The other day I read that Abrams said the prequel idea will split the fans into 2 camps. Some will hate it and some will like it. Why would you want to make a movie that you know is going to have a mixed reaction? The goal should be to have mass appeal.

I heartily sign on to this petition. This premise, which we can only assume was tossed around by studio heads, would be the best.

I also think petitions like this do have an effect. Look what happened when enough people bombarded Paramount with petitions to get rid of Berman. His "services were not requested" for Star Trek XI.

forget about the film completely and give us a great tv series feature Frakes as Captain Riker of the USS TITAN. throw in a familiar face or two such as Dr.Bashir, and continue the story arcs from TNG/DS9 (borg, romulans, cardassia etc.) and some new adeventures. go forward after the time of "Nemesis".

that is what i want to see.

I think this idea has the potential to be great. Potential doesn't mean much, but it's worth a try. On the other hand, I think the prequel idea has no potential to be great.

The prequel TV show didn't work... so a prequel movie is probably a bad idea. Though its probably too late to cancel this and start over, please, please, please don't disrupt Star Trek canon as set up by Roddenberry. Spock and Kirk did not meet at Starfleet Academy, stop pretending they did and respect the universe outlined by the man who created Star Trek.

Eff this petition. Star trek XI sounds excellent. The Academy idea, and an A list talent like JJ Abrams all add up to an excellent movie. I can't wait to see it.

I can say with absolute certainty that i would be more inclined to watch a movie with the Next Generation (and mixed) casts then the current rumored plans for the eleventh movie.

Berman was let go because Trek went into the toilet on his watch, and it would be irresponsible for Paramount to leave him in a position of control over future Trek projects. No amount of online pissing and moaning from fans got him fired.

Online petitions aren't worth dick, and this one won't be any different. Trek XI with Abrams is going to happen whether one person or one thousand people leave comments here.

Please leave Star Trek alone for another few years. I hate studio execs, especially paramount execs.

Most sincerely,

Prequels Don't and Wont work,
StarTrek is about looking to the future, not the past, do a prequel movie and StarTrek's Death will be YOUR fault Paramount

Nemesis sucked, give us a REAL send off for the TNG crew, it's possibly the most popular Trek yet you ONLY give them 4 movies? what the heck is with THAT!?
the damn show ran for SEVEN YEARS give the TNG cast one more movie at least

I have said it on the Star Trek message boards so I will repeat in part some of my comments. To see more look up dark_eyes.

Another prequel is a BAD IDEA! Learn from the failure of Enterprise. Personally, I enjoyed the series immensely, but most fans are purists and do not want the cannon version messed with.

You have three choices:

First: Damage Control
Move the Enterprise cast forward 15 years on the next Enterprise, "the first starship in the Federation to be named Enterprise," and address the issue of all data from the prequel series as classified due to several incidents that broke the prime directive. This way you have recognized developed characters that can be salvaged and used for future movies.
Second: Crossover
A storyline using recognized characters from the franchise. It is already established that Sulu is captain of his own ship, but what happened to Chekoff?
Third: Be BOLD!
Develope a story where humans are not the protagonists. You developed stories on Vulcan and Andoria. Romulus should be next. Like the Kilingons they are a warrior race.
Thanks for the prolific use of Andorians in Enterprise.

If you're going to do a prequel, at least do somehing with continuity merit. Christopher Pike, Kirks first post, with the cloud monster, Picard on the StarGazer, how about the Glactic Barrier nothing was ever done with that. Does anyone else remember the orions? organians? has the progenator ever been followed? what about scott after the enterprise D crew rescued him? What happened to the Voyager Crew? follow borg story lines, here's one that no one will remember, the parasite invaders that infiltrated star fleet higher-ups.

i think a prequel film will dive in the box office...why cant the producers learn from the star trek enterprise fiasco? why cant they set the film after voyager?...maybe merging the crew of voyager and ds9 and possibly bringing the superb actor patrick stewart back to play picard again.

THE IDEA IS STAR TREK:Deep Space
TNG crew and DS9....save Voyager for Star trek 12.....Talk to me for more ideas

I for one am not going to rush out and see it if it is a prequel. As Picard once said, "That would take us in the wrong direction." I can actually see the movie being a big flop if it is and that being said, I really feel that is TIIC intent to do with Trek. They've been trying to kill Trek since the '60s. I'm just glad they did bring back, but now I think this prequel thing is an attempt to end it all. I won't rush out to get the DVD either, unless I hear a lot of good about the movie itself. Gene wanted to go forward and not back in time for he dreamed of a better future.

Oh, I think it should be a move that includes TNG, DS9, VOY, and the Titan. With 4 ships and 4 captains. It would have to take place after Voyager's return, after Betazed breaks free of the Dominion occupation, and after Will Riker taking over the Titan of course.

Yeah Picard and the dudes of DS9 - this will get anyone in the theatre.

DS9 is the greatest Trek-Serie by far and must hav a movie appearence. I love the darker touch, Sisko, Odo, Garak, Weyoun, Odo, Quark, Martok, Bashir, O'Brien, Ezri, Dukat...

We need to see a Crossover and save the Trek Franchise.

A prequel just wouldn't work. Star Trek relies on the characters the fans have got to know after watching the shows from start to finish. Lets face it, Trek will never be stereotypically 'cool', so the bosses need to stop trying so hard to appeal to people outside of the usual target audience. I, for one, think that the film should celebrate 40 years of Trek, so a massive crossover wouldn't be a bad idea.

I think that Star Trek needs to move forward not back. They should know that after Enterprise. They should be doing something that the loyal fans want not try to appeal to other people by using different actors. The fans want to see the familiar characters that theyve been watching for years, with some new ones, but not all new actors.

A crossover movie is better than the currently planned filth. I endorse it. This petition, while quaint, better be sent soon before they start production.
